Shipping Information

Freight Shipping

Many rooftop tents and outdoor gear sold on The Rooftop Tent are too large or heavy to be shipped through standard carriers like USPS, FedEx, or UPS.

Larger items will be shipped via a freight carrier. We reserve the right to choose the most appropriate freight partner for your order.

Curbside delivery is standard. This means the carrier will leave the package at the curb. The driver is not responsible for carrying items indoors, upstairs, or into the backyard. Please plan ahead for assistance if needed.

Freight shipping is more complex than small parcel delivery due to item size and weight. Delays may occur and are outside of our control. All delivery timelines are estimates and not guaranteed.


Delivery Options

Our default shipping method is Free Delivery, which typically arrives within 2–18 business days after the order is placed.

We also offer upgraded shipping options at checkout:

  • Threshold Shipping – Delivered to your porch or garage
  • Threshold + Assembly – Includes technician setup (packaging is not removed)
  • White Glove Delivery – Delivered to your room of choice, with light assembly and packaging removal

Lead Times

  • Orders placed Monday through Friday are processed same-day.
  • Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday are processed the next business day.
  • In-stock items ship within 2–3 business days after processing.
  • Backordered or made-to-order items may take longer to ship. Estimated lead times are listed on the product page but are not guaranteed.

Order Confirmation & Shipment

Once your order is placed, you will receive an order confirmation email.

  • If your item is in stock and ready to ship, we’ll process your payment and submit the order.
  • If your item is on backorder, we will notify you and void the authorization or refund your payment.

Handling Time: 1–3 business days (Mon–Fri)
Transit Time: 2–18 business days (Mon–Sun)


Shipping Restrictions

We currently only ship within the USA, with limited exceptions for certain Canadian locations. If your address is accepted at checkout, your order will be fulfilled.


Address Changes

If your order has already been processed or shipped and you request an address change:

  • We’ll try our best to accommodate the change.
  • Additional fees charged by the freight carrier will be your responsibility.
  • Delays may occur.
  • No exceptions.

Shipping Disclaimer

All shipping estimates are subject to change.

If you choose to cancel due to shipping delays, you will be responsible for:

  • All incurred shipping fees
  • Any warehouse storage costs
  • Additional handling fees

Chargebacks filed due to estimated delivery delays will be considered fraudulent and treated as theft. No exceptions.


Missed Freight Deliveries

If you miss a scheduled freight delivery, the carrier typically charges 50% of the original freight cost for redelivery.

You will be responsible for all redelivery fees.


Preparing for Delivery

Please inspect all packages at the time of delivery.

If any visible damage is present:

  • Clearly note it on the delivery receipt before signing.
  • Take photos.
  • Contact us within 24 hours.

If damage is not noted, we may not be able to assist you with claims.


Damaged Items

You are responsible for inspecting your delivery.

To be eligible for a resolution, you must:

  • Report the damage to contact@therooftoptent.com within 5 business days
  • Include:
    • Photos of the damage
    • Photos of the box and packaging
    • A photo of the SKU label
    • A short description of the issue

Important:
Do not use the item until the issue is resolved.
Keep all packaging in case a freight inspection is required.
You’ll have 3 business days to accept or decline any resolution we offer.

If you fail to report the issue within 5 business days, we will not be able to provide:

  • Replacements
  • Refunds
  • Discounts

We can offer replacement parts for purchase only.

Some products may arrive with manufacturing residue. The Rooftop Tent is not responsible for cosmetic cleaning or adjustments.


Missing Items

If something listed on your delivery receipt is missing:

  1. Mark the receipt as “missing” at the time of delivery
  2. Notify the delivery driver
  3. Email contact@therooftoptent.com within 5 business days

If confirmed missing, we’ll send a replacement free of charge.
We cannot process claims submitted after 5 days.

We are not liable for project delays. Do not schedule contractors until all products have arrived and been inspected.


Stolen Packages (FedEx/UPS)

If your tracking shows “Delivered” but the package is missing:

  • You must file a claim with the carrier.
  • The Rooftop Tent is not responsible for stolen packages after delivery confirmation.
